What to Know About Eye Surgery

What to Know About Eye Surgery

If the thought of having eye surgery leaves you feeling a little unsettled, don’t worry: Lots of people feel that way before surgery. It’s completely normal to be a little jittery about receiving a surgical procedure on your eyes. After all, your vision is so important.

Fortunately, eye surgery today is safe, effective, and much less unpleasant than most people think. In fact, many of our patients — even some of those who felt pretty worried about it beforehand — tell us afterward that their eye surgery was no problem.

At Advanced Laser & Eye Center of Arizona, home of MyEyesToday.com, our eye care specialists are fully committed to making your eye surgery as comfortable as possible. At every step of the process, from your pre-op appointment to your follow-up visits, our experienced, highly skilled providers prioritize your safety and well-being.

Here, we invite you to learn some helpful information about eye surgery at our practice.

A range of surgical procedures

Our providers recommend surgery only when it’s the best option for you, and only after they’ve talked with you about alternative nonsurgical treatments. Once you decide to have eye surgery, we take time to explain it to you and answer all of your questions. We want you to be completely informed before you have your surgery.

Some of the eye conditions that may require surgery include cataracts (cloudiness on the lens of your eye) and glaucoma (a group of eye diseases where pressure in your eye harms your optic nerve). You may also opt to have eye surgery for vision correction.

We’re proud that our own Dr. Kianoush Kian, a board-certified ophthalmologist, is a well-regarded expert in eye surgery. In fact, he specializes in several types of eye surgery, including:

In fact, Advanced Laser & Eye Center of Arizona is the first practice in the United States to offer and widely popularize the permanent LESA vision correction surgery.

A state-of-the-art center

When you have eye surgery with our providers, your procedure is performed in our state-of-the-art surgical center. It contains the latest, most advanced equipment so we can offer some of Arizona’s most innovative treatments.

In most cases, we perform surgical procedures on an outpatient basis. They take only a short time, and we’ll have you back home before you know it.

We’re proud of the fact that our surgical center is one of the only remaining locally owned Medicare-certified eye surgery centers in the Valley. Many of our patients tell us they’d rather receive care at a locally owned center rather than a center owned by a large conglomerate.
