KIANOUSH KIAN, M.D.
Dr. Kian graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from Southwestern University. While there he performed research on various microorganisms affecting humans and had a leadership role in student government including Student Senate and Student Union Presidencies.
Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kian was employed as a chemist with a major pharmaceutical company involved in the development and production of analgesics.
He then completed his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he graduated with honors and was involved in teaching other medical students and in preparing lecture materials for professors. During this time he did research on the effects of fungal organisms on the cornea which was presented at major scientific conferences. Eventually, his research was not only published, but also presented at prominent scientific conferences.
Dr. Kian spent his internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. He completed his Ophthalmology training at Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. At this major medical center he helped care for patients that were referred from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi. There he developed a special interest and expertise in the fields of glaucoma and refractive surgery, in addition to the general practice of Ophthalmology. He also did research on corneal topography and its role in refractive surgery. Since then he has attended several major courses and seminars continuing his medical education in the fields of laser and refractive surgery.
Dr. Kian, eye doctor in Chandler, in is a fellow of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Ketcher grew up in central California. By the age of two he had already undergone four surgeries on his eyes to correct for an eye turn. Because of that, he knew early that he wanted to help people see. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. In 2010 he received his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from Southern College of Optometry. He has spent time in various optometric settings including owning and operating a successful private practice in Mustang, OK. He has gained valuable medical experience from time spent at Indian Hospitals in Santa Fe, NM, and Oklahoma City, OK, and also from working with an Ophthalmologist in Globe, AZ. He is excited to bring his knowledge and experience to Advanced Laser and Eye Center of Arizona and to be working with Dr. Kian.
He is married to Jennifer and has two sons and one daughter. On his off time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and watching sports. He also enjoys cars and is looking forward to restoring his 1974 International Scout.
